Big Or Small Are Same, As Long As We Are Not Alone

This exhibition articulates the spatial intelligence (akal-akalan ruang) of residence from two Rumah Susun (vertical housing) in Jakarta, where the two artists live, Rusun Kemayoran and Rusun Tebet. These two vertical houses are the first generation of Rumah Susun in Jakarta built around the 1990s. As the buildings have stood for almost 30 years, this project tends to reflect and question what we can learn from the neighbourhood about living inside vertical housing in Jakarta. Through the use of archives, artworks, films, and architecture of the exhibition, this project critically applies the embodied spatial intelligence of vertical housing to the exhibition space.
